Modifiers are used to alter existing Menu Items. For example, Modifiers are typically used to add or remove individual ingredients from a Menu Item or communicate cooking or preparation instructions.
- Modifiers can be (optionally) associated with a price and are created within the Modifier Group they're associated with.
- After setting the available options in the first steps of creating a New Modifier Group, it is time to add Modifiers.
To Add a Single Modifier to a Modifier Group:
1. Before Copying Modifier Groups, Modifiers must be created first. Follow the instructions on How to Create Modifiers here. Then return to this page
2. Once the Modifier Group is created, you are ready to customize it by adding additional Modifiers. Navigate to the Menu section of the Bridge and select Modifier Groups
3. Click the row of the Modifier Group you wish to edit
3. Click + Add Modifier Option to add a single modifier to the group, one at a time
4. Fill out the Fields in the Add Modifier Option screen
- Button Name is required and will be the name displayed on the button in the POS

Link Ingredient is an option to link the Modifier to a specific ingredient
- An example of why you would not link an ingredient would be a modifier for meat temperature or egg preference.
- An example of why you would link an ingredient would be adding a specific cheese type to a sandwich.
- The Command field describes how the Modifier will apply to the Menu Item
- For single modifiers, the default option is to "Add"
- To add an additional Command option for the Modifier, click the + next to the linked ingredient and choose another command
- The Price field is used when the Modifier requires an additional cost to the customer, e.g., adding bacon to a hamburger
- Enter the number of Calories to be added to the overall calorie count of the specific Menu Item being modified
5. To add multiple ingredients to the Modifier Group at once, click + Bulk Add and select the ingredients to add to the group
6. Choose the Command, Price, and Caloric settings to apply to this bulk list. Click + Add Another Command to continue to add and set a price the desired modifier commands
These settings will apply to all ingredients selected in the Bulk Add menu.
The prices associated with the commands will apply to the command pallet use in the POS.
7. Choose the Ingredients to bulk add by ticking the appropriate boxes
8. Click Save to keep your changes
Nesting Modifier Groups
Other Modifier Groups can be nested within a group to meet complex menu requirements. When adding a group to another group, you can choose to either Link the group for universal updates or Copy it for independent management. Note: Modifier Groups can be nested in as many levels as your organization needs to meet employee and customer requirements.
