The Open Price feature gives you the flexibility to create menu items without a fixed price, such as a market price special or a custom miscellaneous item. When an item is set to Open in the Bridge, the POS will automatically prompt the server to enter a price each time the item is added to a check. This ensures that uniquely priced items are still captured accurately in your sales and reporting.
This feature allows you to:
- Set a menu item's Global Price to Open.
- Configure specific Variants of an item to be Open Priced while other variants of the same item remain at a fixed price.
To Set a Menu Item to Open Priced:
1. Navigate to the Menu section in the Bridge and select Items
2. Find the Menu Item using the search bar or scrolling the list, then click the item you want to edit
3. In the Detail section, choose Open from the Price Type drop-down menu
Note: By default, all Menu Items are created with a Global Price and are assigned an Absolute Price Type. Changing the Global Price to Open will disable any previously applied price levels for this Menu Item.
4. Click Save to keep your changes
Note: For this change to take effect, you must run a Version Update on your POS terminals. After the sync is complete, this item will now function as an Open-Priced item on any Menu Screen it is assigned to, prompting for a price when selected.
To Set a Menu Item Variant to Open Priced:
1. Navigate to the Menu section of the Bridge and select Items
2. Find the Menu Item with the variant you want to edit using the search bar or scrolling the list, then click the item
3. In the Variant Details section, click the pencil icon of variant you wish to edit to expand the variant details
4. Click the Price Type drop-down menu and select Open
5. Scroll down to the bottom of the Variant Details and click Done
6. Click Save
Note: For this variant change to take effect, you must run a Version Update on your POS terminals. After the sync completes, this variant will function as an Open-Priced item. If it is part of a Combined Variants group on a Menu Screen, it will prompt for a price when selected from the variant list.
