How to Add Menu Items and Modifiers to a Check on the Handheld POS

Building a guest's order on the Handheld POS is an intuitive process designed for speed and accuracy right at the table. The complete workflow covers selecting menu items, applying detailed modifiers, and making adjustments like changing the quantity or seat assignment before sending the order to the kitchen.

This process allows your staff to:

Easily add items to the check and apply multiple layers of customization, including selecting modifiers and using customizable notes.
Quickly edit items directly from the check summary to adjust quantities, change seat assignments, or add more modifiers after the initial entry.

To Menu Items and Their Modifiers to a Check on the Handheld POS:

1. If logged out to the PIN screen, enter your PIN and tap OK

2. Create a New Check or open an existing one to discount:

From the Floor Plan view: Tap the table corresponding to the check. If there are multiple checks at the table, tap the table to bring up the open check list for that table, and select the check you want to open
From the Checks List view: Tap the check you wish to open from the list of all available checks

3. Tap the Display Group to show the Menu Items in that group (swipe left or right to view more display groups)

4. Tap the desired Menu Item(s) to add to the check

If the Menu Item has Modifiers, tap the desired choice(s)
To remove an applied modifier from an item:
1. On the item screen, swipe down starting from the Seat Assignment panel (the area at the top showing S1, S2, etc.). This action will reveal a list of all modifiers currently applied to the item
2. In this list, tap the X icon next to the specific modifier you wish to remove
3. To return to the main item editing view, swipe up starting from the Seat Assignment panel
Menu Items can be further customized by using the Item Note section at the bottom of the screen. For instructions on configuring modifiers for Menu Items in the POS, click here
To assign the item to a seat position, tap the corresponding button for that position
If Seat Assignment is set to Required in Terminal Settings, adding any menu item to the check (including items without modifiers) will prompt the Check Item Details screen. Tap the mandatory seat position for that item, then tap Done
Repeat the above process until all ordered Menu Items have been added to the Check
