The Off-Menu Search feature on your Handheld POS provides immediate, tableside access to your entire item catalog. This powerful tool allows your staff to find and add items using the search bar, even if those items are not on a visible menu screen button. It's the perfect way to manage large inventories, such as an extensive wine list or retail products, without ever leaving the guest's side.
This feature allows you to:
- Instantly search your entire Bridge item database directly from the search bar on your handheld device.
- Find any item with flexible search terms, including its SKU, Item Name, or UPC.
Note:
- To optimize performance and avoid excessive loading, the off-menu search requires a minimum of three characters to be entered before results are displayed.
- Because the search checks the entire Bridge database, items already configured on the current Menu Screen Display Groups might appear twice if they match the search term – once as a direct database match and again listed under their specific Display Group.
- Recommendation: To easily distinguish between regular menu items and specific off-menu items (like unique vintages) in search results, consider establishing a naming convention, such as adding a consistent prefix or suffix (e.g., "BIN-", "-WM") to the Item Name, SKU, or UPC of off-menu items when adding them in the Bridge.
To Add an Off-Menu Item to a Check:
1. If logged out to the PIN screen, enter your PIN and tap OK
2. Create a New Check or open an existing one to transfer:
- From the Floor Plan view: Tap the table corresponding to the check. If there are multiple checks at the table, tap the table to bring up the open check list for that table, and select the check you want to open
- From the Checks List view: Tap the check you wish to open from the list of all available checks
3. Tap the search icon
4. Type in at least three characters of the SKU, UPC, or Item Name, and the results will populate immediately
5. Tap the item to add it to the check, and the Send button will activate
6. Tap the X button to return to the main check screen once all the off-menu items are added
7. Confirm that the items have been added to the check
