Items with an open price, such as a market price, special, or miscellaneous charge, require you to enter the price manually when adding them to a check. Tapping an Open-Priced item on the menu immediately opens a keypad modal, allowing you to enter the correct price before it's added to the guest's bill.
This feature allows you to:
Manually enter a custom price for an item when adding it to a check.
Add priced modifiers, which will correctly calculate on top of the custom price you entered.
Apply discounts, assign seats, and split checks for open-priced items just as you would for any standard menu item.
Before using the Open Price feature, menu items must be configured in the Bridge. For instructions on How to Create and Configure Open-Priced Menu Items in the Bridge, click here.
To Add an Open-Priced Menu Item to a Check on the Handheld POS:
1. If logged out to the PIN screen, enter your PIN and tap OK
2. Create a New Check or open an existing one to transfer:
- From the Floor Plan view: Tap the table corresponding to the check. If there are multiple checks at the table, tap the table to bring up the open check list for that table, and select the check you want to open
- From the Checks List view: Tap the check you wish to open from the list of all available checks
3. Tap the Open-Priced Menu Item to add it to the check
4. The Edit Open Price modal will appear, displaying $0.00. Use the keypad to enter the correct price, and then tap Apply
After you tap Done on the price modal, you will be prompted to complete any other required steps for the item:
- Modifiers: If the item has modifiers, you will be prompted to add them.
- Seat Position: If your terminal is set to require a seat position, you will also be prompted to select a seat.
The open-priced menu item is now added to the check:
