Modifiers in the POS system allow restaurants to offer customized options for their guests, enhancing the dining experience and increasing order accuracy. By adding modifiers to menu items in Salido, your staff can efficiently manage and update menu options to meet customer preferences.
To Add a Modifier to a Menu Item:
1. Once logged into the POS, navigate to the Check Menu by tapping Check from the selection screen
2. Tap the button in the bottom right to create a New Check
3. Select the Order Type, Party Size, Revenue Center, and Table and tap "Start Order"
Order Type, Party Size, and Revenue Center are mandatory fields. The server does not need to select a table to create a new check.
- Order Type: 'To Go,' 'Dine-In,' and 'Delivery' are different examples of custom Order Types that might suit your business.
- Party Size: # of People in a group that wishes to be seated.
- Revenue Center: a physical area of the restaurant (e.g., Bar, Dining Room, Patio) or any non-physical revenue stream you come up with that you want to track.
- Table: Any seat or group of seating in your establishment's layout should be listed as a table here.
4. Tap the Menu Group to show the Menu Items in that group
To search for an item by name, tap the search bar and begin typing the Menu Item's name
5. Tap the desired Menu Item(s) to add to the check
6. To jump to a specific Modifier Group, tap it on the left, then select the Modifiers per the guest's choices
Some modifiers are optional, while others are mandatory or have a minimum and maximum selection requirement. The POS labels them accordingly, and incorrect configuration will result in an error message.
7. If the guest has special instructions for their choices, tap the Show Commands button at the bottom of the screen to bring up the special modifier command pallet
8. To apply the command to a specific modifier, tap the command, then tap the modifier to which it applies
The modifier will now be labeled with the command, allowing staff to adjust the order correctly.
9. To apply a command to multiple modifiers simultaneously, long-press the command to enter multi-select mode, tap all the desired modifiers, and then tap Apply
10. Tap Save in the top right to save your modifier selections
The newly added modifier(s) and their associated cost(s), if any, will now be visible in the order details panel on the left.
