The kitchen receipt is designed to provide a clear and concise overview of orders for kitchen staff. It includes essential details like the table number, check number, guest count, server name, order type, and time printed. You can further customize the appearance of check items and modifiers on kitchen receipts to enhance readability and efficiency in your kitchen operations.
- Check Items: Adjust the font size and style of the listed items to ensure clarity even in a fast-paced environment.
- Modifiers: Highlight specific preparation instructions or dietary restrictions by enabling red font for modifiers. (Red font will only show on Impact printers)
To Build a Kitchen Receipt Profile:
1. Navigate to Settings > Restaurant Operations and select Receipt Profiles
2. Click + New Receipt Profile in the top right to bring up the receipt profile editor
3. Select the Kitchen Receipt Type from the drop-down menu
4. Set the New Receipt Profile Active by sliding the toggle switch to the right
5. Toggle the Only invert (print red) on impact printers switch the desired position
Note: Only set this toggle to ON if you are using an impact printer. Setting this to ON while using a thermal printer will cause undesirable effects.
6. Fill in the required Receipt Design Profile Name for the New Receipt Profile
7. Select the Location for this New Receipt Profile from the drop-down menu
Receipt Design Content Tab:
7. Add, remove, and rearrange the Content Blocks to choose what to display on the receipt
Content Section
- Location Name: Displays the name of the restaurant or specific kitchen location.
- Table: Indicates the table number associated with the order.
- Check: Shows the unique check number.
- Guests: Lists the number of guests.
- Server: Provides the name of the server who took the order.
- Order Type: Specifies whether it's a dine-in, takeout, or delivery order.
- Printed Time: The exact time the order was printed to track prep times.
- Service Date: Toggles the operational service date on the kitchen ticket.
- Items Header: Displays the "Items" section separator.
- Check Items: Renders the list of food and beverage items with preparation modifiers.

Add or remove the content blocks on your receipts by toggling each block on or off

Rearrange the content blocks by clicking and holding the left side of the block name and dragging it to the desired position on the receipt

To add a content block, click + Add content block and choose the additional block to display if so desired

8. Open the Check Items Customization interface by hovering over the Check Items block and clicking the pencil icon, then customize the receipt using "Bold," "Underline," and "Block Text." Adjust the font Size of each Check Item detail by selecting "Small," "Medium," "Large," and "X-Large" from the Font Size drop-down menu.

Impact Printer Enhancement: When using impact printers, any text styled with "Block Text" will be printed in red for added emphasis.
10. Click Done to save the Check Item changes
Note: The preview screen in the style editor displays the order of items but does not dynamically reflect the appearance of the printed receipt.
11. Click Save to keep your configuration
Receipt Design Layout Tab (Preview Only):
The Layout tab allows you to preview how your receipts will look with different formatting options. These adjustments only affect the preview and do not change the actual printed receipt.
Here's what you can adjust in the Layout tab:
- Printer Model: Choose between "Impact" and "Thermal" to see how the receipt will be formatted for each printer type.
- Zoom: Use the slider to zoom in and out of the receipt preview for better visibility.
- Spacing: Select "Compact Spacing" for a smaller, paper-saving layout or "Regular Spacing" for a more spread-out format.
