Creating new checks quickly and efficiently is essential for smooth service on the handheld. This process allows servers to promptly begin orders for guests, ensuring timely kitchen preparation and minimizing wait times. This article outlines the steps to create a new check, add items, apply modifiers, and send the order to the kitchen.
- Flexible Check Creation: Start a new check from either the floorplan or the checks list view
- Streamlined Ordering: Add menu items, customize them with modifiers, and send the complete order to the kitchen with a single tap.
To Create a New Check on the Handheld:
1. If logged out to the PIN screen, enter your PIN and tap OK
2. Open the check:
- To open a check on a specific table from the floor plan, tap that table, confirm the check details, and tap Add new check
- To open a check without a specific table, tap the + button, confirm the check details, and tap Add new check
Order Type, Party Size, and Revenue Center are mandatory fields. The server does not need to select a table to create a new check.
- Order Type: 'To Go,' 'Dine-In,' and 'Delivery' are different examples of custom Order Types that might suit your business.
- Party Size: # of People in a group that wishes to be seated.
- Revenue Center: a physical area of the restaurant (e.g., Bar, Dining Room, Patio) or any non-physical revenue stream you come up with that you want to track.
- Table: Any seat or group of seating in your establishment's layout should be listed as a table here.
3. You are now ready to add Menu Items and their Modifiers to the check
