Digital signatures and tip selection on the handheld enhance the guest experience by providing a convenient and modern way to complete transactions. This feature streamlines the payment process, allowing for quick and efficient checkout while also offering guests the option to choose their preferred receipt method.
- Simplified Checkout: Guests can quickly sign for their meal and add a tip directly on the handheld device.
- Flexible Receipt Options: Guests can receive a printed receipt, a digital receipt via email or text, or decline a receipt altogether.
Note: In order to capture a digital signature on the Handheld POS, Enable Digital Signature must be enabled under Terminal Settings in the Bridge.
To Take a Digital Signature on the Handheld POS:
1. If logged out to the PIN screen, enter your PIN and tap OK
2. Open an existing or create a new check
3. Tap Pay to access the payment screen
4. Tap Yes or No to print a Guest Receipt before accepting payment
5. Swipe, insert, or tap the credit card to process the payment
6. Optional: Choose light or dark mode to complete the transaction by tapping the appropriate icon in the top right
7. Present the handheld POS to the customer so they can choose their tip and sign. Ask them to tap Done when they are finished
Note: Servers have the option to manually exit the digital signature workflow by tapping "X" on the signature screen. This action brings up a confirmation tray that asks, "Exit digital signature collection? Payment will not be voided." If a user confirms, they are returned to the payment info screen to correct any errors without voiding the payment.
- The customer can now choose how to receive their receipt and enter their information, if any
- Once this process is complete, the customer will receive a notice to hand the device back to the server
8. Take the handheld device back from the customer and tap the check total at the top to return to the check
