Price Levels in Salido offer a precise and flexible way to manage your menu pricing based on various factors. They allow you to set the optimal price point for your menu items, regardless of the time of day, location, or order type.
Note: When adding a menu item to a check in the POS that requires seat assignment or has mandatory modifiers, the item's Global Price displays initially. This happens because the system is waiting for you to complete the required inputs (like assigning seats or selecting modifiers). Once you hit "Save," the correct price based on the applicable Price Level will show in the Check Details panel.
Here's what happens:
Tap a menu item: The panel opens and displays the Global Price.
Complete required inputs: Assign seats or select required modifiers.
Select Save: The POS sends details to the system to determine the correct Price Level.
- Final Price Displays: The item is added to the check with the correct Price Level price.
This process ensures accuracy, especially in cases like daypart crossovers (e.g., adding an item at 3:59 PM and saving it at 4:02 PM, when pricing rules may change).
Price Levels must be created before they can be applied to Menu Items. For instructions on creating Price Levels, click here.
To Add a Price Level to a Menu Item:
1. Navigate to the Menu section in the Bridge and select Items
2. Use the search bar to find the Menu Item and then click the item to open the editor
3. Click + Add Price Levels if there are no current price levels associated with this menu item, otherwise, click Manage Price Levels to bring up the Price Level Interface
4. Click Add Price Levels
5. Select the Price Level(s) to add to the Menu Item by ticking the appropriate boxes
5. Click Save Selected
To Configure the Price Level:
1. Locate the Price Levels section at the bottom of the Detail panel
If the item has variants, click the click the Pencil Icon ( ✎ ) on that variant to open the Price Level configuration modal
Note: This process must be repeated for every variant row listed in the Detail panel. Because Variants act as distinct menu items, the system does not automatically copy pricing from one variant to another.
2. From the Price Type drop-down menu, choose Absolute, Variable, or Item N/A
Absolute:
- This option allows you to set a fixed price for the menu item. Regardless of other factors, the price will always be the specified amount.
Variable:
- This option allows the price to change based on certain conditions or inputs. It is not fixed and can vary depending on the situation. The calculated value of a variable price is derived from the global price (+/- and %/$ rules).
Item N/A:
- This option is used when the item is unavailable for sale under this price level.
- When an item is set to be unavailable at a location, no other rules will apply to it, regardless of the priority ranking of price levels.
3. If Item N/A is chosen, skip to the final step to save. If Variable is selected, skip to the next step for variable configuration. Otherwise, configure the Absolute price type by entering the Cost and Price for that level
4. Configure the Variable Price Type
-
Configure Cost Adjustments:
- In the Cost section, you can set the variable adjustment for the item's cost
- Choose to "Decrease" or "Increase" the menu item(s) cost from the drop-down
- Specify the adjustment value:
- Percentage (%): Enter a percentage value to decrease or increase the base cost
- Dollar Amount ($): Enter a fixed dollar amount to decrease or increase the base price
-
Configure Menu Price Adjustments:
- In the Menu Price section, you can set additional adjustments for the menu price
- Choose to "Decrease" or "Increase" the menu item(s) pricing from the drop-down
- Specify the adjustment value:
- Percentage (%): Enter a percentage value to further decrease or increase the adjusted price. For example, to lower the price of a $5 menu item to $4 (20 Percent), choose "Decrease" and enter 20 in the Menu Price field.
- Dollar Amount ($): Enter a fixed dollar amount to further decrease or increase the adjusted price. For example, to raise the price by $0.50, choose "Increase" and enter .50 in the Menu Price field.
5. Tick the check box for the Price Level to activate it
6. Click Save to keep the Price Level configuration for the Menu Item
