Variants refer to menu items or ingredients available in different forms, such as sizes (e.g., small, medium, large pizza), styles (e.g., wrap, salad, sandwich), or quantities (e.g., single scoop, double scoop for ice cream; half dozen or full dozen for oysters).
- Variants are available in the Ingredients section either while adding a new ingredient or editing an existing ingredient.
- Variants are available in the Menu Items section only while editing an existing menu item.
To Enable Variants While Adding a New Ingredient:
1. Navigate to the Menu section in the Bridge and click Ingredients
2. Click + New Ingredient to bring up the ingredient entry form
3. After following the steps for adding new ingredients at this link, check the box to Enable Variants, and a Variant drop-down menu will appear above
4. Select the desired Variant Size from the drop-down menu
If the correct variant option cannot be found in the list, scroll to the bottom of the menu and either Edit or Add a New Variant Option.
5. Click Save to save your changes
To Enable Variants on an Existing Ingredient:
1. Navigate to the Menu section in the Bridge and click Ingredients
2. Click the row of the ingredient you wish to edit
3. Check the box to Enable Variants, and a Variant drop-down menu will appear above
4. Choose the Variant Size from the drop-down menu
If the correct variant option cannot be found in the list, scroll to the bottom of the menu and either Edit or Add a New Variant Option.
5. Choose the Unit Value for the variant from the drop-down menu
If the correct unit cannot be found in the list, scroll to the bottom of the menu and either Edit or Add a New Unit Value.
6. If you choose to do so, enter the Price, Cost, and Calories in the following three fields to the right of Unit
7. To add the new variant to an Ingredient Group, scroll through the list of ingredient groups in the drop-down menu and select the group(s) to which the new variant will belong
8. Click Save to keep your changes
