Discount Types
Fixed Amount discounts represent specific dollar amounts subtracted from an individual item or the total check. Such discounts can be applied for an extended period, allowing you to streamline your sales process and eliminate redundant actions by your staff. With you can quickly establish these Fixed Amount discounts according to your specified criteria. For instance:
- Suppose you're aiming to attract more patrons from the local workforce. As a promotional strategy, you offer a discounted mixed drink or craft beer to mark the start of the weekend, advertising it as "$5.00 Fridays!" This is an example of a Fixed Amount discount in action.
Fixed Percentage discounts are 'non-varying', which means the percentage rate of the discount remains constant regardless of the original cost of the item or the total amount of the order.
- For example, in the hospitality industry, it's a common practice to provide a 10% Senior Discount. This discount can be configured as a fixed percentage in the Bridge. Once set up, it eliminates the need for manual entry each time the discount is applied, streamlining the checkout process in the POS.
Open Amount provides you the flexibility to enter a discount amount based on your discretion. This discount value is manually keyed into the POS at the time of sale.
- An example of this could be that the restaurant manager might choose to apply an 'Open Amount' discount to the customer's check if the restaurant gave them a bad experience. This discount could be a specific dollar amount decided by the manager, such as a $20 reduction on the total bill.
Open Percentage provides you the flexibility to enter a discount percentage based on your discretion. This discount value is manually keyed into the POS at the time of sale.
- An example of this would be if your restaurant hosts a "Spin the Wheel" discount game. Let's say a customer spins and lands on a 25% discount. The server can easily input this variable discount directly into the terminal, customizing the bill based on the game's outcome.
