Editing an employee's Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) status in the Bridge ensures proper classification and payroll compliance. Non-exempt employees are subject to FLSA regulations, which require employers to pay them at least the federal minimum hourly wage and overtime pay (at least one and a half times their regular rate) for any hours worked beyond 40 hours per week. Exempt employees typically hold executive, professional, or administrative roles involving independent decision-making or supervisory responsibilities, receive a salary instead of hourly wages, and are not entitled to overtime pay.
This feature allows you to:
Classify staff members as Exempt or Non-exempt based on specific criteria outlined in the FLSA.
Ensure accurate wage and overtime tracking for hourly employees.
Maintain strict organizational compliance to prevent significant legal and financial ramifications associated with misclassification.
To Edit an Employee's FLSA Status:
1. Navigate to the Staff section of the Bridge and select Employees
2. Select the Employee whose FLSA status you wish to edit from the list or search for the Employee using the search bar
3. To open the Employee's profile, click the row of that employee
4. From the Account tab, scroll down to the General section of the entry form and enter a new Swipe Code
4. Click Save when you are finished
