The Send Void Notices feature improves kitchen communication and reduces food waste by automatically sending a "negative" prep ticket to the kitchen when items or entire checks are voided. This is especially effective in high-volume environments where staff track total item counts (e.g., "All Day" counts) to manage production. This feature allows you to:
Automatically notify prep stations when items are removed from an active order.
Provide clear, negative quantity indicators (e.g., -5) on kitchen receipts to help staff adjust production immediately.
Configure void notification preferences on a terminal-by-terminal basis to suit different service areas.
To Enable Send Void Notices:
1. In the Bridge, navigate to Settings > Devices, and then click Terminals
2. Select the appropriate Location from the drop-down menu to view the terminals at this location
3. Use the search bar or scroll through the list to find the desired terminal
If you have not yet created a terminal, please follow the instructions for creating a new terminal at this link.
4. Click on the terminal you wish to configure
5. Scroll down to Settings, click the drop-down for Send Void Notices, then select Enabled
6. Click Save to keep your changes
Using Void Notices on the POS
Once enabled in the Bridge, Void Notices are generated automatically based on standard POS workflows. When printed, the Void Notice will include the following:
Check Information: Displays standard order details, including the Check number, Guest count, Server name, and Order Type.
Void Indicator: The receipt prominently features *** VOID *** to immediately distinguish it from a standard prep ticket.
Negative Quantity: The quantity of the item being removed is displayed as a negative number (e.g., -1x).
Item Details: Displays the name of the voided Menu Item and any associated Modifiers.
Voiding a Sent Item
When a user selects a sent item on a check and voids it, the system triggers a Void Notice to the item's assigned prep station.
Voiding an Entire Check
If an entire check is voided, the POS sends a consolidated Void Notice for all items on that check that were previously sent to the kitchen. This ensures that every impacted prep station is notified to stop work on that specific order.
