This configuration allows staff to quickly initiate a tab and pre-authorize a customer's credit card with a simple swipe, dip, or tap directly from the POS terminal when starting a new check. Set the desired pre-authorization amount within the terminal settings to secure the tab efficiently.
- Quick Tab Initiation: Enable staff to start tabs rapidly by swiping, dipping, or tapping a customer's credit card at the POS terminal.
- Configurable Pre-Authorization: Use Bridge terminal settings to set the specific dollar amount Salido automatically pre-authorizes when starting a tab with a card.
To Configure Start a Tab with Card in Terminal Settings:
1. In the Bridge, navigate to Settings > Devices, and then click Terminals
2. Select the appropriate Location from the drop-down menu to assign the Terminal to that specific location
3. Click + New Terminal or, click the row of the terminal you want to edit
4. Scroll to the bottom of the terminal settings and select Enabled from the Start Tab with Card drop-down menu
- Selecting Enabled will trigger the Amount to Pre-Authorize field to appear
5. Enter the Amount to Pre-Authorize
- A pre-authorization verifies the customer's card is valid and temporarily holds the specified amount against their available funds. This helps ensure funds are available for the final bill but is *not* the actual charge itself, which occurs when the check is closed.
- It is recommended that the pre-authorization amount be set at $20.00 or higher. Please be aware that this field does not accept $0 or negative values.
6. Click Save to keep your configuration
