Handheld v1.8.7
User Interface (UI) & Experience
- Improved UI - Updated the top bar of the global UI to ensure a more consistent look and feel throughout the application without affecting current functionality.
- Voided Items - When an item is voided on the handheld, it is now immediately struck through and becomes unable to be selected. Voided items are no longer visible on the check once a user navigates away and returns; instead, a "voided items" banner appears, which can be tapped to view the check activity log.
- Resolved an issue where the "Check Options" button remained visible after selecting items on a check. The "Check Options" button now correctly disappears when items are selected on a check.
- Resolved an issue where tapping outside a visible bottom sheet did not dismiss the sheet. Tapping outside a bottom sheet now correctly dismisses it, allowing the user to return to the previous screen.
- Resolved an issue that caused a black screen to appear when quickly tapping the sidebar button after canceling a clock out or completing a voided check. The screen now functions as expected without displaying a black screen in these scenarios.
- Resolved an issue where the "Unsent Items" bottom sheet appeared incorrectly after canceling the void reason selection for a sent menu item. The "Unsent Items" bottom sheet no longer appears when a void reason selection is canceled, even if unsent items are on the check.
- Resolved an issue where the Check Label field allowed unlimited characters, causing the user interface to break in the Check Details section when long labels were used. The Check Label field now properly truncates long labels with "...", preventing UI issues while still displaying relevant information.
Check Management & Workflow
- Overpayment Notifications - When attempting to close a check with an overpayment, servers will now see a helpful notification stating that the check is unable to be closed due to an overpayment.
- “POS Handheld” Order Channel - The system now automatically sets the order channel to indicate a check's origin, thus ensuring that all new checks reflect that they were created from a handheld device.
- Payment Adjustments - The 'Edit Payment' screen now clearly indicates whether there's an overpayment or an unpaid balance on a check. Servers will see a button labeled "Remove Overpayment" if too much was paid, or "Add unpaid balance" if more is owed, streamlining the process of adjusting payments.
- Void Alerts - Servers will now see a red notification if they attempt to void a check that already has a payment applied. This notification appears immediately after trying to void, letting them know the check can't be voided.
- Improved Workflow for Multiple Payments - The payment workflow has been streamlined for multiple payments, allowing users to remain on the payment screen after a partial payment until the balance is zero, removing the need to repeatedly tap 'Pay'.
- Filter by Order Channel - Servers can now filter checks by order channel when searching on the handheld.
- Menu Variants on Handheld POS - Menu screens on the Handheld device can now consolidate all variants of a single menu item into one button. Tapping this button opens a sub-menu displaying all available variants, allowing servers to select the desired option before continuing with the order.
- Resolved an issue where handheld devices did not register selected modifier choices when a modifier group required a minimum of two selections. Handheld devices now correctly recognize and save all selected modifiers in these situations.
- Resolved an issue where the menu item drawer did not appear after tapping the "Print" button. The menu item drawer now displays correctly, along with other options, after printing.
- Resolved an issue that prevented checks from being voided after entering the manager's approval PIN, particularly following a gift card payment. Checks can now be voided successfully after manager approval.
- Resolved an issue where an incorrect message was displayed when an employee without sufficient permissions attempted to edit a check. The error message now accurately states "Edit Check" instead of "Create check."
- Resolved an issue where the party size disappeared when editing an existing check. The party size now remains visible when updating check details.
- Resolved an issue where the party size field was not automatically pre-filled when creating a new check, even when the terminal was configured to default to table seats or revenue center.
- Resolved an issue where terminals displayed inconsistent error messages when attempting to create a check with an empty party size. All terminals now consistently display the "requires non-zero guest count" error message when an empty party size is entered.
- Resolved an issue where a new check was not automatically created when a table with no associated checks was selected on a handheld device, despite the terminal being configured with a Default Order Type and Default Check Name. Clicking an empty table on a handheld device now automatically creates a new check, matching the behavior of the stationary terminal.
- Resolved an issue where the party size input displayed a random number instead of the default party size configured for the selected revenue center in Bridge.
- Resolved an issue where the default party size for a revenue center was not applied when creating a check directly from the floor plan. The party size input now correctly reflects the default party size configured for the selected revenue center, even when no specific table is chosen.
- Resolved an issue where the party size input remained static instead of automatically populating with the number of seats for the selected table, even when the terminal was configured to default to table seats.
- Resolved an issue where the check summary remained displayed after a check was fully paid and auto-closed. The system now navigates to the Check Activity Screen after a check is paid, allowing users to adjust tips, print, or reopen the check.
- Resolved an issue where menu items were able to be added to a check on handheld devices even when seat assignment was configured as "Required" and no seat was selected. Menu items will no longer be added unless a seat is assigned, and the back button now functions as a cancel button, consistent with the stationary terminal.
- Resolved an issue where the party size input was pre-filled with the revenue center's default party size when a terminal was configured for "Party Size: Required." The party size input now correctly appears empty during check creation when this setting is enabled.
Permissions & Access
- Updated Permissions Visibility - Servers will now only see check and item-level actions that they have permission to use and are applicable to their current task. Actions that are not available are no longer greyed out; they are simply hidden from view.
- Resolved an issue where an employee without proper permissions could view a check from another employee if multiple checks were open on the same table. The system now correctly restricts access and displays an unauthorized message when an employee attempts to view a check they do not have permission to access, regardless of the number of checks on the table.
- Resolved an issue that displayed an "Oops, something went wrong" error when attempting to void already sent check items with "Void Items → Ask for Authorization" permissions enabled. Users now correctly receive the alert to ask for void authorization in this scenario.
Payments & Discounts
- Resolved an issue on handheld devices where the "Manual Entry" button was not functioning and its user interface was misaligned.
- Resolved an issue that prevented gift card payments from completing after manager approval, which incorrectly displayed a "Payment not authorized" error. Gift card payments now process successfully, and the system proceeds directly to the receipt screen.
- Resolved an issue where the keyboard remained stuck on the "Approval Requested" screen after applying and then removing a promo code. The keyboard now dismisses correctly, allowing users to navigate freely after removing a promo code.
- Resolved an issue where editing the amount of an added gift card resulted in a "gift card not found" error. Users can now successfully edit and save gift card amounts on a check.
- Resolved an issue that allowed open amount discounts to exceed the check or item total on handheld devices. A message now correctly displays, indicating that the discount amount cannot be greater than the balance due.
- Resolved an issue where a "Voiding Payment" error pop-up incorrectly appeared when editing the amount of a gift card used for a partial payment.
- Resolved an issue where a "Voiding Payment" error pop-up incorrectly appeared after using the "Edit Amount" functionality during a payment process involving a custom amount and another payment.
- Resolved an issue where tips were not saved after manager approval when closing a check, particularly after a "No receipt" selection.
- Resolved an issue where a "Gift card not found" error appeared when adding funds to a gift card if "0" or "00" was entered. The system now prevents adding zero amounts to gift cards, ensuring correct error messages or disabling the "Add to check" button in these cases.
- Resolved an issue where open percentage discounts could not be applied if the entered percentage was greater than the check or item price. Open percentage discounts now apply correctly, regardless of the numerical value entered.
Employee Management
- Prompt to Print Shift Summary - Servers are now prompted to print a shift summary when clocking out on the handheld device. This now matches the experience on the Stationary POS.
- Resolved an issue where the "End Break" button did not function and caused the screen to load indefinitely.
Notifications
- Resolved an issue where approval request notifications displayed incomplete information, such as "ApprovalcheckItemMoe(name==)". Notifications now clearly and completely state the approval request, including details like the employee's name and the check number.
Diagnostics, Performance, & System Stability
- Optimized Performance - The checks list view and check search screens now load more quickly, and display loading indicators if needed.
- Improved Diagnostics Detail - The Diagnostics screen now provides more detailed information, including Sunmi SDK version, KSN status, and latency test progress, with an automatic information reload upon entry for improved accuracy.
- Resolved an issue where the Salido app would disconnect from backend services after the handheld device entered a deep sleep. The Salido app now automatically reconnects to backend services when the device wakes from sleep, allowing users to log in and resume operations without interruption.
- Resolved an issue where an error message or a red network symbol appeared when releasing a claimed handheld terminal using the 10-zero method. The terminal now releases successfully, and the app remains connected, allowing for immediate reclaiming of the device.
- Resolved an issue that caused an internal error when the power button was pressed to turn off the screen while on the Pin In screen. The system now handles this action without error.
