Handheld v1.7.7
MENU & ORDERING EXPERIENCE
These enhancements and fixes improve ordering speed, clarity, and flexibility.
- The menu drawer now opens halfway by default when users access the Order screen, making ordering faster. Swiping the menu drawer up or down allows users to fully open, half-open, or close it.
- Users can now easily search for menu items using the native keyboard and quickly switch between menus, making the ordering process faster and more intuitive. The menu picker and search function are now accessible in all menu drawer states.
- Servers can now quickly find and add menu items created in the Bridge web portal directly to a check, even if those items are not on the main menu screens. They can search by name, short name, SKU, or UPC from the handheld device.
- A new “repeat” button in the item action tray allows servers to quickly reorder any menu item already added to an order, whether it's been sent, unsent, held, or scheduled. The new instance of the item matches the original quantity.
- To improve clarity, a message reading "Modifiers have not been applied" now appears on the Modifiers screen when no modifiers have been selected. This message disappears once a modifier is chosen and reappears if all modifiers are removed.
- When users long-press an item to edit it, the screen now focuses solely on that item and its options, hiding seat assignments, discounts, fees, and the check summary for a clearer view. This streamlined view helps users apply changes more efficiently.
- Users can now select or deselect additional items in the Item Edit screen by simply tapping anywhere on the item's row. This reduces accidental navigation to other screens like the item quantity or modifier selection.
- Users can also tap anywhere on a text line to select an item.
- Fix: Resolved an issue where the menu drawer reset to its collapsed state after selecting modifiers. The drawer now stays in its previously selected state.
- Fix: Resolved an issue where modifiers appeared out of order. They now match the same order as their modifier groups on the stationary POS terminal.
- Fix: Resolved an issue where item options remained visible after repeating an item.
- Fix: Resolved an issue where item options remained visible after holding or releasing an item.
- Fix: Resolved an issue where the menu disappeared after swiping and removing an item from a check. The menu now remains visible.
- Fix: Resolved an issue that caused the schedule time section to display incorrectly when scheduling many items at once.
- Fix: Resolved an issue where long-pressing an item multiple times caused its options to malfunction and required multiple clicks to deselect. Item options now display correctly and deselect with a single click, even after repeated long presses.
CHECK & PAYMENT MANAGEMENT
These enhancements and fixes make workflows and payments faster, clearer, and more aligned with the POS terminal experience.
- When users tap "Split" from the check action drawer, the display now goes directly to the "Move by item" flow. This change simplifies the check-splitting process and reduces confusion.
- Servers can now easily manage gift cards directly from the handheld device, including checking balances, selling new cards, and adding funds to existing ones.
- Users can now quickly remove manually added discounts from the Check or Order Summary screen by swiping left on the discount.
- If "Auto Send" is enabled in the Bridge web portal, unsent menu items will now automatically send when a server exits an order or when screen timeout occurs. This ensures consistency with the stationary POS terminal experience.
- When a check is reopened from the Closed Check View, users are now taken directly to the Order screen to add new items without extra steps.
- Fix: Resolved an issue where the value of gift card purchases were not displayed in the check activity log.
- Fix: Resolved an issue that caused the screen to get stuck after a gift card payment. Gift card payments now process successfully.
- Fix: Resolved an issue that allowed expired promo codes to be applied from the handheld device.
- Fix: Resolved an issue that allowed an item's price to be edited to $0.00. The new minimum price is $0.01, matching the stationary POS terminal.
- Fix: Resolved an issue where the void button appeared on the payment confirmation screen when “auto-close on paid” was enabled. Fix: Resolved an issue where voiding an item did not prompt for a void reason. The handheld now displays the "Void Reason" prompt, matching the stationary POS terminal.
- Fix: Resolved an issue that generated an error when attempting to void a selection of both sent and unsent items. The void button is now disabled in that case.
- Fix: Resolved an issue where voiding a merged check with both sent and unsent items did not void the full check.
- Fix: Resolved an issue where long payment method names displayed incorrectly handheld check screen.
- Fix: Resolved an issue where the "Unsent Items Action" modal did not appear during check transfers. The modal now prompts users to send or undo, matching the stationary POS terminal.
- Fix: Resolved an issue where unsent items were automatically sent when making changes to a check or an item. Unsent items will now only be auto-sent when exiting or transferring a check, matching the stationary POS terminal.
- Fix: The Print button in the Check Edit menu now only appears when all items have been sent, reducing fraud risk.
SYSTEM STABILITY & PERFORMANCE
- Fix: Resolved an issue with memory retention that slowed performance where some objects were retained during the login and logout process.
- Fix: Resolved an issue where the app did not provide feedback when an action failed due to a recently lost connection. The app now displays an error message, informing users when an action cannot be completed because of connectivity issues.
- Fix: Resolved an issue where the screen displayed only partial content and froze when switching from Diagnostics to the Card screen. Fix: Resolved an issue where navigating back and forth between the Diagnostics and Card screens caused an infinite loading screen.
