Taking a payment with a gift card in the POS is streamlined and offers convenience to both customers and staff. Whether it's a partial payment or covering the entire check, handling gift cards effectively ensures smooth transactions and a seamless customer experience.

• Partial Payment: A guest wants to pay part of their check with a gift card and cover the remaining balance with another payment method.
• Full Payment: A customer wishes to settle their entire bill using a gift card.

To Take a Payment with a Gift Card in the POS:

1. If logged out to the PIN screen for inactivity, enter your PIN and tap the check mark to log back into the POS terminal

2. At the top right of the POS screen, tap to bring up the POS options

3. Tap the Check button to open the Check List View

4. Open the check to which the Gift Card will be applicable by tapping it

5. Once inside the check screen, tap the Pay button to bring up the Pay Screen

To Pay for the Check Without Gift Card Lookup:

6. To pay for the check without looking up the gift card balance, swipe the card while on the pay screen

If the balance is enough to cover the entire check, the Payment Complete modal will appear, showing the remaining gift card balance:

If the balance is not enough to cover the whole check, the entire balance of the gift card will be applied to the check as a partial payment, and the gift card will now have a $0.00 balance:

Note: Before the check can be closed, the remainder of the balance must be paid using an alternative payment method.

To Look Up the Gift Card Balance Before Paying the Check:

7. To look up the gift card balance before paying the check, tap the Gift Card Lookup button to open the lookup modal

8. Enter the Gift Card number and tap Lookup to view the gift card's balance and status

The user will see the Gift Card balance on the next screen:

9. Tap the Apply To Check button to apply the gift card balance toward the check

If the balance is not enough to cover the entire amount of the check, the entire balance of the gift card will be applied to the check as a partial payment, and the gift card will now have a $0.00 balance:

To Apply a Partial Payment with a Gift Card:

10. From the Pay Screen, tap the Partial Payment button

11. Enter the amount to be applied to the check, then tap Next

12. To look up the gift card balance before applying the partial payment, tap Gift Card Lookup and follow Steps 8 through 9 above. Otherwise, swipe the gift card to process the partial payment

The Payment Complete modal will appear, showing the payment total and the balance remaining on the card:

To Edit the Balance of a Gift Card Check:

• Salido allows guests to use a gift card like a credit card and open a running tab as long as the available balance is enough to cover the check total. 
• After using one of the methods above to receive payment, users can add more items to the check and adjust the payment as necessary.

13. After the new item is added to the check, tap the payment in the check details panel

14. Tap Edit Amount to pay the outstanding balance

15. Tap Add unpaid balance to adjust the payment amount automatically. Otherwise, enter a custom amount using the keypad

16. Tap the Pay button to complete the updated payment
